IRIS aspires to equip SIDS with the knowledge, tools and partnerships needed to achieve disaster and climate resilient infrastructure. Resilient infrastructure will then foster sustainable development and enhance liveability for all in SIDS.
Guiding Principles:
Anchored on the key guiding principles of ‘co-creation’ and ‘complementarity’ IRIS is co-curated by SIDS and CDRI partners and to proactively build complementarity with past and ongoing initiatives that support disaster and climate resilient infrastructure development in SIDS. To ensure a demand driven approach, CDRI engages closely with SIDS representatives in the design of interventions under IRIS and their implementation. IRIS interventions are deigned considering the demands and absorptive capacity of SIDS and strive to foster SIDS ownership and leadership without unduly burdening SIDS institutions.
