. Disaster Resilient Utility Infrastructure

St. Kitts and Nevis faces challenges from hazards and extreme climate events which pose significant risks to the nation's critical infrastructure, particularly in the water, energy, and telecommunications sectors, which are essential for daily life and economic activities. The vulnerability of these infrastructural systems is compounded by their aging condition and the lack of comprehensive data on their current state and resilience.

The project aims to enhance the knowledge, understanding and decision-making capabilities of essential utility service providers in St. Kitts and Nevis to better manage the risk and vulnerabilities associated with the multiple hazards affecting critical infrastructure there.

Key activities include mapping and assessing vulnerabilities, developing a comprehensive vulnerability atlas, and establishing a unified coordination framework. This will inform targeted infrastructural upgrades, improve preparedness and response capabilities, and ensure sustainable development in the face of increasing natural hazards.
