11. Dominican Republic National Multi-Threat Early Warning System

The project’s objective is to improve the management of risk and vulnerability data to improve emergency operations and allow for risk-informed infrastructure planning. Activities include the integration of several alert systems into a Multi-Hazard Early Warning System linked to a public-facing mobile app, ensuring that information is up-to-date, centralized and accessible so it can allow efficient early warning, protecting lives and investments in case of emergency. The data collected will form the National Risk Atlas which is intended to inform land management infrastructure development decisions to protect and serve vulnerable populations. The project is endorsed by the Dominican Republic’s Emergency Operations Centre. It will be implemented by the Global Green Growth Institute, an inter-governmental organization dedicated to sustainable growth, especially in response to the threat of climate crisis and deteriorating environmental conditions.
